Lotus Up for Award
07 December 2014Petja Heinrich’s poetry collection Lotus, which we published in early 2014, was one of five books nominated for this year’s prestigious Nikolai Kantchev Poetry Award, named after one of Bulgaria’s most talented poets of the twentieth century and organized by the poet’s widow, Fedya Filkova. Congratulations to Petja for her work!
All Is Silence No. 2!
01 December 2014Jonathan’s translation of Manuel Rivas’ novel All Is Silence came out second in Eileen Battersby’s list of her favourite fiction titles of 2014, published in The Irish Times. Eileen places a welcome emphasis on books of fiction in translation, stories written by people in other parts of the world.
Galician Wave on Booksandquills
23 November 2014Our new series of Galician young adult fiction in English, Galician Wave, got a mention on booktuber Sanne’s Booksandquills, a very popular site on YouTube, at the beginning of her “November Book Haul”. Thanks so much to Sanne for mentioning our books – it’s so exciting to hear someone who is “really excited to read some more translated fiction, especially ones that aren’t that well known” and thinks the covers are “quite cool”!
Galician Wave in Faro de Vigo
02 October 2014Reflecting on International Translation Day (30 September), the Vigo newspaper Faro de Vigo highlights our new series of Galician young adult fiction in English, Galician Wave, and the fact that the first four titles have all been published at the same time.

17 September 2014Our new series of Galician young adult fiction in English, Galician Wave, received a glowing report on Brétemas, the blog of the Galician editor Manuel Bragado, who is director of the publishing house Edicións Xerais de Galicia.
Tsveta in Christianity and Culture
15 August 2014Tsveta had an article on the Tryavna school of iconography published in issue 89 of the Bulgarian magazine Christianity and Culture. The article included several of Jonathan’s photographs.

11 August 2014Tsveta had six new poems published in issue 58 of the Plovdiv-based literary magazine Stranitsa.
Galician Songs in Bulgarian
09 August 2014The publication of our edition of Galician Songs by Rosalía de Castro in Tsveta’s Bulgarian translation received widespread coverage in the Galician press, including Faro de Vigo and Galicia Confidencial.
Voix de la Méditerranée
21 July 2014In July, Tsveta attended the poetry festival Voix de la Méditerranée, which is held in Lodève in southern France. The poets are chosen mostly from countries that border the Mediterranean with an eclectic mix of cultures and religions. An excellent festival, by all accounts, which met with an enthusiastic response from the locals.

23 June 2014In June, there was an excellent review of Jonathan’s translation of All Is Silence, the fourth novel by Manuel Rivas to appear in English, by Eileen Battersby in The Irish Times.
Launch of New Site
30 May 2014At the end of May, this new website, designed by Andrey Raychev at Better Monday, went live. The old website, which had seen seven years’ loyal service and received a total of 6550 individual visitors, went into a well-deserved retirement!
