COLESHILL

COLESHILL by Fiona Sampson

Professor Fiona Sampson is a leading British poet and writer. She has been published in thirty-seven languages and has received international awards in the US, India, Macedonia and Bosnia. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, of the English Association and of the Wordsworth Trust, she has received an MBE from the Queen for services to literature. She has published twenty-seven books and has received the Newdigate Prize, a Cholmondeley Award, a Hawthornden Fellowship, and national awards from the Arts Councils of England and of Wales, the Society of Authors and the Poetry Book Society. Her critically acclaimed biography In Search of Mary Shelley (2018) has appeared in US, Italian and Spanish editions. It was a BBC R4 and Guardian Book of the Week, Sunday Times Must Read, Observer and Independent Pick for 2018 and Times Literary Non-fiction Book of the Year. Reading Coleshill, we are reminded of an essential community with the land, with all our good neighbours, both animals and humans. It seems above all to be a narrative of mystical experience; free of God and dogma, but deeply aware of history and ecology.
